Hours and duties:

Marshals are required to work approximately 16 hours during the three - day festival weekend.

There are a limited number of places per shift, so book quickly to be sure to get your required hours.

Once you have checked in for duty, we expect you to be available for all the days and rotas you have agreed to work. Expect to work at least one morning, one afternoon and one evening shift.

The task force team can include a variety of stewarding duties and you will be required to ‘check in’ at the merchandise / information tent each day for work allocation. You must be prepared to work whatever is assigned to you that day. In case of emergencies and high demand for jobs we may ask you to take over another area mid shift. The event environment is very dynamic so please be prepared to get stuck in wherever is needed.

There are NO light duties available, please do not ask. If you apply to steward, we assume you are fit enough to be able to stand for at least two hours on shift and the festival site is extensive so expect plenty of walking too.

The site covers a large area and communication is via radios. Training will be given prior to the festival in regard to our emergency action plans. These will also be sent to you via email so please make familiarise yourself with these prior to the festival.

You will always be working in a minimum of a team of two with one radio. This may be with a member of our SAI team.

We expect all of our staff and volunteers to be friendly and approachable. You will be supplied with a lanyard which will have all the information you need so you can help any visitor. You will also be supplied with a high viz which you will wear at all times.

Task Force Team duties at Woodshrop Festival:

We expect all of our volunteers to muck in and work as a team. During festival hours your will work 4 hour shifts.

We have tried to the shifts patterns to make it fair to all. Please be sure before that you know what hours you are working before sending your payment. A copy of the line - up is attached for your perusal.

Below, is some examples of the duties you will be expected to undertake. We expect everyone to work as a team and we will make sure that all our volunteers have a fabulous time!

  • Camping gate staff and marshals: Thursday morning arrival is essential. You will be required to assist with marshalling within the camping areas. Duties will begin Thursday at 16:00. Your shifts will be 4 hour shifts at a time. Friday will be the main arrival day. You will also be required to man the gate at times during the festival. Hours and shifts will be decided according to which ticket you add to the basket.
  • Car park marshals: You will be required to assist with parking day visitors. Your shifts will be 4 hour shifts starting at 10:00.
  • Gate staff & information booth:  Duties will include scanning tickets and issuing visitors with wristbands. The gate will also be an information booth so you will be required to man this once the busy period is over. These shifts will be 4 hour shifts.
  • Merchandise tent: You will be required to work within the merchandise tent. Training will be given. This area is also an information booth so all information regarding the festival will be here.
  • Fire wardens: Full training will be given on what to do in the event of a fire. As a warden, we do not expect you to fight any fires but to spot any issues and report them. This will include identifying any hazards for preventative measures. These will  be 4 hour shifts. If you are a fire warden, you will not be asked to undertake any other duties other than the task in hand.
  • Event sanitation duties: It is essential that all volunteers are happy to take part in waste management and site sanitation duties. This job is essential for the enjoyment of everyone at the festival. Duties will include litter picking (with gloves and litter grabber tools), reporting any full bins to main control, checking the toilets and showers every 30 mins, venue cleanliness such as ensuring the event is clean and presentable at all times. Please note that we will have cleaners on site throughout the festival so your duties will simply be to report any issues you may come across. You may be asked to close a toilet temporarily but never to clean it.
  • Smile: At Woodshrop Festival we want every single visitor to feel welcome. A smile and hello goes a long way and will encourage people to ask questions. Our staff and volunteers will be representing us and we need happy, smiley faces. Chat to people, have fun and enjoy your self!
